#TOPMANLCM

99707_960n

It’s official. We’re off to the races with Topman’s most recent collection for the LCM. This Spring/Summer 2014 collection bares garments that are quick to resemble a very modern, very stylish gent from the wild, wild west. It’s no surprise to us that Topman made us want to saddle up and ride into the sunset, especially with their most recent collaboration with Agi & Sam (which features spectacular owl prints and football inspired pieces) so watching the show was, for lack of a better word, a treat indeed. From curved yokes embellished with gorgeous western florals to the loose fitted dress pants, Topman proves truly impressive once again.

The best part about this collection is it’s attention to detail. A hint of an undershirt beneath a plethora of breathtaking dress tops and sweaters, piped seams on the pockets, collars and extensions, as well as eye-catching metallic belts that wrapped themselves around the waists of each model shining brighter than Rihanna’s diamonds; and let us not forget about the shoes to match. Not only have they provided an all metallic design, but also a classic black style with just a hint of shimmer on the toe. Who needs shoeshine with oxfords as bright as these? If we had to sum this entire shebang into three words it would be this; Nothing. Dull. Allowed. Take a second to feast your eyes upon more looks and watch the runway show below.

WoftD: Double Trouble.

ambidextrous

am·bi·dex·trous

1.able to use both hands equally well: an ambidextrous surgeon.
2.unusually skillful; facile: an ambidextrous painter, familiar with all media.

While on the prowl for a new word of the day, Alex suggested this one. I should have thought of it first! My father is ambidextrous and it’s probably the craziest and coolest thing to experience as a child. Although, my father is a superhero it is still very strange to experience someone writing and drawing and effectively feeding themselves with two hands. At different times of course. I have made many failed attempts to write the alphabet with my left hand and all I managed to spell was WOOF. And not in a good way. The VMutt team spent this weekend sleeping in and strolling the boardwalk in VA Beach. There is always so much to see on the boardwalk and boy was there a lot to see last night. Along with the always interesting natives, there were a lot of circus-esq side shows going on on various side streets. The one that we stopped to look at was an entertainer complete with razor sharp knives and a 6ft unicycle. He had a little girl tossing him things to juggle while atop his unicycle and she just happened to be ambidextrous. That solidified it for me: I will be practicing with my left hand from now on until I can sign my name comfortably. Let’s just hope everything doesn’t turn out ass backwards. FOoW!

Hill-Side & Gitman Vintage

TheHill-SideGitmanSummerShirts

We love Need Supply for many reasons, one not being the fact that we can hardly ever, but occasionally, afford the beautiful merchandise carried in-store and online. In time, friends. In time. A few days ago we received word of the exclusive drop of merchandise from the Hill-Side & Gitman Vintage capsule summer shirt collection. They have everything from calico to larger geometric florals. It looks like high quality stuff which would probably explain the price tag tacked onto these pretty little tops. They range from $170-$220 and although we’ve yet to touch and feel the pieces first hand, they look sustainable. There’s only two ways to find out; either order the shit or go and try it on if you’re local. Either way, we love it all, but as far as owning one of these fine prints is concerned, only in our dreams.

Quadron – Hey, Love

1362771304QUADRON_HEY_LOVE

How we seemed to let this gem slip through our fingers is beyond us, but we’re glad we found it. Summer love is strong; so strong in fact we can smell it in the summer air with every passing breeze. It’s inevitable, ever so beautiful and, all the while, painful. With failed relationships and blossoming romances full of lust and admiration all around us got us thinking… where’s our men? It’s a good thing we’re so independent in our own rights, and if worse came to worse we could depend on one another but the chances of us giving in is slim to none, therefore we don’t need men. Though what we do need, without a doubt, is a summer anthem and that’s where “Hey, Love” comes in.

I remember coming across a Quadron remix about a year ago, if I remember correctly, and thought to myself, “Wow, more please”. It wasn’t long after that I let them escape my mind and dissipate into the realm of forgotten artists. Rest assured, I admit to it being a mistake on my part. And with that being said, I guarantee that it will not happen again. Not only is this track relevant to situations that we are facing head on in the opening weeks of summer, but it has a marvelous music video to aid in visuals. We’re all about songs that contradict themselves in some ways, fooling the listening into making one think that one should be dancing in unison with the upbeat pop production whilst failing to realize how much sadness and pain is tied into the lyrics that overlay the track. Mmm, now that’s our cup of tea. Take a listen and enjoy a freshly brewed serving of Quadron—cream and sugar included.

Evan Hannah – 2 Weeks Notice

evan1

Once a stranger, making his presence known through the likes of twitter by spending most of his virtual time liking and retweeting tweet after tweet on Chance’s profile, Evan has surely become a friend. At the ripe age of 20, Evan Hannah is producing his works in the good ‘ole 757 (Virginia Beach, VA). If it hasn’t been noted here on Mutt if there’s anything we love more than pizza it’s potential, and we see just that in Hannah. He writes music over melodies produced in his bedroom, like a lot of artists do these days, with just a set of pipes and a piano. Exploring the realm of love, heartache, hope and inspiration, Hannah is creating a world of his own where he wants nothing more than for his fans to connect with and love his music as much as he does. We were fortunate enough to sit down with Hannah and not only interview him, but also produce and direct an exclusive photo shoot with the artist. Take a look at the rest of the photos and listen to what the singer/songwriter has to say about his life as an artist, where he draws inspiration and what drives him to keep doing what he’s doing. We like where this kid is headed.

XXXII – Virtual Mutt x Tevin Vincent Pt. 1

XXXII1

Today’s outfit is all about the accessories. Sure, I’ve got some great faux and genuine leather pieces going on for me, but I want to take a second to spotlight the people behind the bling. Everyone knows how easy accessories make spicing up a casual outfit or even adding that extra flare to any look so it’s only necessary that I showcase the wonderful designs throughout this post. As declared in the title I’m going to focus mainly on Tevin Vincent as this is part one of three collaborative shoots for the goodies he sent over to V.Mutt. Not only does he make quality threads, he also has a line of sunglasses that are sure to stun. I wore them to DC Pride and received so many (in)direct compliments from a handful of parade goers. I can’t say I’m too shocked because I knew it was bound to happen. If I’d seen these bad boys, which just so happens to bare the style name of “Gemini”, on someone else I would have been just as drawn to them.

From the sustainable lustrous black frames to the accented silver strip on the upper region of the shades, the hybrid beauty suits it’s name all too well. I prefer silver over gold, making the sunnies all the more suiting to my taste, but I am also trying to welcome gold into my every day life as well…slowly, but surely. With that I played off of the silver accent and finished the look of with other great pieces from one of the greats, Mr. MJ himself hanging alongside a newly found obsession, Maslo. Jacobs needs no introduction due to his years of experience and level of mainstream that is tied to his name, but Maslo on the other hand (or in this case the same one) deserves a round of applause. The simple designs like the tube bracelet and necklace pictured below land Maslo a special place in my jewelry box. The designer is a local Richmonder which is great for me because it makes the pieces more easily accessible. I have to say, I plan on obtaining more pieces from recent collections because I just can’t get enough.

Again, Special thanks to Tevin for the lovely shades. Check out the rest of his site here and keep a look out for part 2.

Word of the Day: OBSQS!

http://www.liverpoolconfidential.co.uk/i/L5Z/5X03_H.jpg

obsequious

ob·se·qui·ous

 (b-skw-s, b-)

adj.Full of or exhibiting servile compliance; fawning.

I came across this word on my sixth reading of P&P written by my home girl Jane A. from the block. Here is where I’ll get a little boastful and say that it’s not often that I have absolutely no idea what a word means. Using my spidey senses I can usually tell what a word means or what it might be referring to. This was not the case with this word; I wasn’t even in the ball park with this one. I tried to context clue my way out of it, but my mind was so blank. Naturally, I decided to go to the Google and learn something. In the context of the particular place in the novel where the word is located, it’s discussing Mr.Bingley’s sisters’ affection for Jane, the eldest of the 5 Bennet sisters. Ms. Austen used the word to describe the way that the sisters fawned over Jane and her incomparable beauty. So the next time you or a fellow pup go googoo over a guy or gal, let them know that they being obsequious, or that they are behaving obsequiously. They’ll probadly look at you sideways, but hey, at the very least they’ll stop drooling everywhere. WOOF!

The Spirit of D.C.

DC1

DC3

Adorned with daisy dukes, Swarovski crystals and a secret flask, we voyaged to DC this past Saturday to join the Pride Parade. To say the least, DC knows how to do it. It took a little more than a few seconds of submerging ourselves in the culture of our nation’s capital, but we fell in love with the city. Beginning the day in Georgetown we took no time in getting our hands on those pretty little macarons made popular by the Blair Waldorf and Tumblr, of course. With the light flavors of rose, champagne, and key lime on our lips we continued our journey making our way through the throngs of people, thus reaching our second stop; a consignment boutique by the name of Tari. There we encountered designer shoes and vintage gems to die for, including a hand-beaded dress that was just a little over Aba’s budget. Regardless of the woes of being 19, we continued to run our paws through our dear friends Gucci, Jimmy Choo and YSL, only dreaming of one day owning such wonderful things.

DC Pride Parade

DC49

The rumors have been confirmed; Mutt lost it’s pride virginity this year in the great ole’ District of Columbia. We agreed that the only way one could accurately describe the parade would be to call it colorful, to say the least. Not just colorful in the sense of the hundreds of rainbow flags found floating around in the hands of supportive citizens lined up on endless blocks of D.C. street, but also in the sense of how diverse the entire shindig proved to be. Clearly anyone who chose to attend had to hold an open mind, but the support from the plethora of races, cultures and occupations was something we feel that everyone in the gay community should experience at least once (we recommend a pride held in a large city i.e. D.C., New York, Miami or Chicago). The more people willing to take off their pants, toss out parade beads, squirt you with a water gun, shoot glitter into the air or just reach out to touch your hand to let you know that you are loved, the more fun you’re probably going to have—unless of course you aren’t into that sort of thing. Most importantly, being in another city full of people who make you feel like you’re part of something bigger; like you’re part of a community or, better yet, a family whose only desire is to seek out the love they know they deserve. That is what makes pride so beautiful.
